Professionally

I am a Technical Game Designer that specializes in systems design. Mechanic design and balancing are my passions in this industry as I constantly strive to find the optimal solutions to any problem that my project might come across. In that regard, there is no such thing as failure, only finding several ways not to fix that problem before landing on one that best fits our game's needs.

My design philosophy revolves around the idea of simplicity and elegance. Even the most complicated of systems can be, or should be able to be, broken down into manageable parts. Once you understand each piece and its function in the whole, you may confidently manipulate, remove, or add functionality. Simplicity and elegance from the beginning, as a standard coding and infrastructure practice, make for a much smoother development process.

Games have had a profound impact on my life. Be it the wonder of incredible and strange worlds, the glory of besting opponents in tests of skill or the incredible friends and communities that I've come to know, there is no shortage of what games mean to me. My dream is to create games that impact people as much as games have impacted me.

Personally

The best workers are those that get along and are having fun doing what we love. I’m a team player that knows when to be serious and when to have a laugh. Sometimes all you need to do to solve a problem is grab a beer, deal out a card game and just discuss it casually.

Making games can be daunting, but making them with the right people can make all the difference in the world. Whether it be taking things off someone’s plate, developing the tools to make their jobs easier, or just having someone to talk to, I strive to make the best working environment for my colleagues as I can.
